Where to use an eyewash station sign
- School and university science labs
- Workshops, garages and factories
- Cleaning and chemical storage areas
- Hospitals, clinics and dental surgeries
- Battery-charging and maintenance areas
How to print and hang it
- Pick a design and download the PDF. US Letter and A4 are both landscape. The JPG is there if you want to add it to a document or print shop order.
- Print on card stock if you can. Heavier paper stays flat on a door or window. For colour signs, use your printer’s best quality setting.
- Protect it. Slide it into a sheet protector or laminate it so it survives fingerprints, rain and cleaning.
- Hang it at eye level. Use tape on glass, a frame on a wall, or zip ties through punched holes on a fence or gate.
Questions
Is an eyewash sign required?
ANSI Z358.1 calls for eyewash stations to be clearly identified with a highly visible sign, and OSHA requires eyewash facilities where workers handle corrosive materials. Check the rules that apply to your workplace.
What colour should an eyewash sign be?
Green and white β the safety colour for first aid and emergency equipment.
Where should I hang it?
Directly above the station, high enough to be seen over equipment, plus arrow signs on the route to it.
Are these certified signs?
They are informational printables. Where a regulation requires a certified sign, use one.
