Where to use an employees only sign
- Kitchen, prep and back-of-house doors in restaurants
- Stock rooms, storerooms and loading areas in shops
- Break rooms and staff toilets
- Server rooms and offices
- Behind counters and reception desks
How to print and hang it
- Pick a design and download the PDF. US Letter and A4 are both landscape. The JPG is there if you want to add it to a document or print shop order.
- Print on card stock if you can. Heavier paper stays flat on a door or window. For colour signs, use your printer’s best quality setting.
- Protect it. Slide it into a sheet protector or laminate it so it survives fingerprints, rain and cleaning.
- Hang it at eye level. Use tape on glass, a frame on a wall, or zip ties through punched holes on a fence or gate.
Questions
What is the difference between Notice, Caution and Danger signs?
They follow the ANSI/OSHA colour system: blue Notice is for information that is not a hazard, yellow Caution for minor hazards, and red Danger for immediate hazards. For a simple private door, Notice is the usual choice.
Are these official OSHA signs?
They follow the familiar OSHA/ANSI look, but printed paper signs are informational. Where a regulation requires a specific sign, use a certified one.
Should I say “employees only” or “staff only”?
Both are understood. “Employees only” is common in shops and restaurants; “staff only” suits hotels, schools and offices. We have both.
How do I make the sign last?
Print on card stock and laminate it, or put it in a sheet protector, then fix it with double-sided tape or screws through the corners.
