How to print and hang it

  1. Pick a design and download the PDF. US Letter and A4 are both landscape. The JPG is there if you want to add it to a document or print shop order.
  2. Print on card stock if you can. Heavier paper stays flat on a door or window. For colour signs, use your printer’s best quality setting.
  3. Protect it. Slide it into a sheet protector or laminate it so it survives fingerprints, rain and cleaning.
  4. Hang it at eye level. Use tape on glass, a frame on a wall, or zip ties through punched holes on a fence or gate.
Free for personal and business use. Print as many as you need for your home, shop, office or workplace. Please link to this page rather than re-uploading the files, and do not sell them.

Questions

Do I need a sign if I have security cameras?

In many places, yes — privacy laws such as GDPR in the UK and EU, and some US state laws, expect you to tell people when they are being recorded. Check the rules where you are.

Which wording should I use?

“Video surveillance in progress” and “CCTV in operation” are the most common. “Smile, you’re on camera” is friendlier for shops and cafés.

Can a sign alone deter theft?

A visible sign does discourage casual theft, but it works best alongside real cameras.

How do I put it up outdoors?

Laminate it or use a plastic sleeve, and fix it at eye level near each entrance.
