How to Use VectorDad’s Curved Text Generator

VectorDad’s curved text generator lets you type any text and bend it along a circular arc — then download as an SVG or PNG. It’s one of the most popular tools for Cricut tumblers, circular monograms, logo badges, and iron-on transfers. Here’s how to use it.

Step 1 — Type Your Text

Click the text input field and type whatever you want to curve. This could be a name, a phrase, a date, or anything else. There’s no character limit, though shorter phrases tend to look better on a curve — longer text needs a larger arc radius to stay readable.

Step 2 — Choose a Font

Pick a font from the dropdown. The generator includes a wide selection including clean sans-serifs, classic serifs, script and handwriting styles, and decorative fonts. For Cricut projects, bold and clean fonts cut more reliably than thin script fonts — thin strokes can tear during cutting.

Step 3 — Adjust the Curve

The curve controls let you set how tightly the text bends:

  • Arc angle — a larger angle produces a tighter curve (more circular). A smaller angle gives a gentle, subtle bend.
  • Curve direction — choose whether the text curves upward (arch) or downward. Upward is the classic badge/logo look; downward is used for the bottom half of circular designs.
  • Letter spacing — increase this if letters feel cramped on the curve. Decrease it to tighten them up.

Step 4 — Set Font Size and Colour

Adjust the font size to fill the canvas the way you want. For Cricut iron-on and vinyl projects, make sure your text is large enough to cut cleanly — very small curved text with thin strokes can be difficult to weed.

Set the text colour if you’re downloading as PNG. For SVG cuts on a Cricut or Silhouette, colour doesn’t matter — the machine reads the paths, not the fill colour.

Step 5 — Download SVG or PNG

  • SVG — use for Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, Canva Pro, and Illustrator. The text stays as clean vector paths at any size.
  • PNG — use for printing, overlaying in Canva Free, or sending directly to a print shop or sublimation printer.

Popular Uses for Curved Text

  • Cricut tumblers — curved text on vinyl wraps perfectly around the curve of a tumbler or cup.
  • Circular monograms — a name curved around the top of a circle with initials in the centre is one of the most requested Cricut designs.
  • Iron-on transfers — curved text on T-shirts, hats, and tote bags for personalised gifts.
  • Logo badges and stamps — curved text around the edge of a circular badge logo gives a professional, seal-like appearance.
  • Wedding favours and stationery — names and dates in curved script on favour tags and envelope seals.

Tips for Better Results

  • Use bold fonts for Cricut cuts — thin script fonts have very fine strokes that can tear when weeding vinyl or iron-on.
  • Combine two curved text layers — top arch for one line of text, bottom arch for a second line, to create a full circular badge design.
  • Keep text concise — 2–5 words curve most elegantly. Longer phrases need a very large arc to stay readable.
  • Test at actual cut size — resize to your intended cut dimensions in Cricut Design Space before committing to material.
