A rectangle gift box + lid is the workhorse for anything that isn’t a cube — soap bars, pens, jewelry, cosmetics, or a folded scarf. The lift-off lid gives a clean retail look that’s easy to brand with a label or vinyl monogram. Perfect for small-business packaging, corporate gifts, and the holidays.

How to assemble
- Cut — Load 65–110 lb cardstock and cut the file. Solid black lines are the cut paths.
- Score — Run the dashed lines as score/fold lines (the separate SCORE layer). Scoring makes crisp folds.
- Fold — Fold every scored line, folding away from the scored side for sharp edges.
- Glue — Glue the tapered tabs on the base, then repeat for the lid. Let it set before filling.
Cardstock tip: Use 65–110 lb (176–300 gsm) cardstock. 65 lb folds easily for small boxes; 80–110 lb gives larger boxes and lids more structure. Always score before folding.
Decorating & Gift Ideas
If the cube is for small things, the rectangle is for everything that is a little longer or flatter — a scarf, a paperback, a piece of jewelry on a card, a tie, soap bars, or a row of chocolates. With its matching lift-off lid it behaves like a miniature shirt box, which makes it a natural for clothing accessories and stationery sets. The broad, flat lid is a blank canvas: run two ribbons across it and tie them in the center, add a layered paper bow, or press on a vinyl name and date for a keepsake. It is the most “grown-up” looking box in the collection, equally suited to a birthday gift, a Christmas present under the tree, or a polished corporate gift.
File Formats & Compatibility
The rectangle box and lid come as an SVG and a DXF. Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Designer Edition take the SVG; the free Silhouette Studio and Glowforge-style lasers take the DXF. Both the base and the lid include separate score lines — set them to Score so the longer side panels fold square and the lid drops on without bowing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it include a matching lid?
Yes. The template has a base and a separate lift-off lid sized to fit over it, so it closes like a proper gift box.
How big can I make it?
Scale the whole template up to fit larger gifts, but move to heavier 100–110 lb cardstock as it grows so the longer walls stay rigid.
The lid is loose — how do I fix it?
A loose lid usually means the base flexed inward. Score and crease the base firmly, and if needed nudge the lid down a hair in size so it grips the walls.
Can I use it as a shirt or apparel box?
At a larger scale, yes — it works well for folded accessories, t-shirts, and stationery sets.
