Cube gift boxes are the all-purpose hero of handmade gifting — jewelry, candles, small candy, party favors, or a single cupcake. The clean two-piece design (base tray + lift-off lid) looks polished in any cardstock and is easy to dress up with vinyl or a printed wrap. A go-to for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, and Christmas.

How to assemble
- Cut — Load 65–110 lb cardstock and cut the file. Solid black lines are the cut paths.
- Score — Run the dashed lines as score/fold lines (the separate SCORE layer). Scoring makes crisp folds.
- Fold — Fold every scored line, folding away from the scored side for sharp edges.
- Glue — Glue the tapered tabs on the base, then repeat for the lid. Let it set before filling.
Cardstock tip: Use 65–110 lb (176–300 gsm) cardstock. 65 lb folds easily for small boxes; 80–110 lb gives larger boxes and lids more structure. Always score before folding.
Decorating & Gift Ideas
The cube is the box you reach for when you do not have a special shape in mind — it simply works. Use it for jewelry, a small candle, a bar of artisan soap, a coffee mug, or a handful of wrapped chocolates. Because the lid is a clean, flat square, it is the easiest box here to personalize: add a vinyl monogram, a heat-pressed name, or a single pressed flower under vellum. A length of satin ribbon tied in a cross with a gift tag tucked under the knot turns a plain cube into a finished present in seconds. It is equally at home as a birthday favor, a wedding welcome box, a corporate thank-you, or a party-favor cube lined up by the dozen down the center of a table.
File Formats & Compatibility
The cube downloads as both an SVG and a DXF. Send the SVG straight to Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio Designer Edition; open the DXF in the free edition of Silhouette Studio or in a Glowforge or other laser cutter. The template keeps the cut outline and the fold/score lines on separate layers, so set the score lines to Score and attach them before you send the cut. Scoring the cube before folding is what gives those six faces their crisp, square corners.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the cube box come with a lid?
Yes — this template includes both the box base and a matching lift-off lid, so you can fill it and close it cleanly.
What size gift fits inside?
The 2 inch and 3 inch versions on this page suit small items like jewelry, candy, and trinkets. Because it is a vector file, you can scale the whole template up for larger gifts while keeping the lid in proportion.
What cardstock should I use?
65–80 lb cardstock holds the cube’s shape well. Step up to 100 lb stock if you are sizing it up or packing something with a little weight.
Can I make a taller cube?
Yes. Stretch the height of the base before cutting to turn the cube into a deeper box; just leave the lid at its original depth so it still slips on.
